"the isnād of his ḥadīth is sound." Then he presented this ḥadīth and attributed it to Ibn Abī Shaybah, al-Baghawī, and al-Ṭabarānī. Supporting what I mentioned is the inclusion of the ḥadīth by al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī in "al-Mukhtārah" (vol. 56/136/2 - 137/1) through the route of Aḥmad and al-Ṭabarānī, from which I derived the two additions within the brackets. All of this indicates that this Muḥammad is a tābiʿī, and that the isnād is connected. Then I saw the ḥadīth in "Muʿjam al-Ṭabarānī al-Kabīr" (191/449), a section from volume 13, recently published with verification by brother Ḥamdī al-Salafī, may Allāh reward him. The ḥadīth has a concise corroborating narration reported by al-Ṣalt ibn Ghālib al-Hujaymī from Muslim ibn Badīl on the authority of Abū Hurayrah who said: I saw the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) drinking on his mount, then he handed it to the one on his right. Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned it in the biography of this Muslim in "Thiqāt" (5/400) and noted that others besides al-Ṣalt narrated from him, saying: "He is the one from whom ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAwn narrated the ḥadīth of al-Ṭufayl ibn ʿAmr al-Dawsī." This ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAwn was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" (2/162/976) with a sound isnād from Ibn ʿAwn from Muslim ibn Badīl on the authority of Abū Hurayrah who said: A man came to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and mentioned Daws, saying: They are... (blank in the original) and mentioned their men and women. The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) raised his hands, and the man said: *"Indeed, to Allāh we belong and to Him we shall return."* Daws has perished, by the Lord of the Kaʿbah. The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) raised his hands and said: "O Allāh, guide Daws." Muslim was corroborated in this by Abū Salamah from Abū Hurayrah with a more complete version, saying:
