and in the ḥadīth, there is strong evidence supporting that the ḥadīth was a verse recited, and it adds that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) used to recite it in prayer. Supporting this is the fifth ḥadīth from Abū Mūsá al-Ashʿarī, who said: "A sūrah was revealed and then lifted, and I memorized from it: 'If the son of Adam had two valleys of wealth, he would seek a third...' the ḥadīth."

"A sūrah was revealed and then lifted, and I memorized from it: 'If the son of Adam had two valleys of wealth, he would seek a third...' the ḥadīth." It was recorded by al-Ṭaḥāwī (2/418-419): Abū Umayyah narrated to us, Aḥmad ibn Isḥāq al-Ḥaḍramī narrated to us, Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, Dāwūd ibn Abī Hind narrated to us from Abū Ḥarb ibn Abī al-Aswad al-Dīlī from his father from Abū Mūsá al-Ashʿarī, who said: and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is good; its men are trustworthy, the men of Muslim, except for Abū Umayyah, whose name is Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Muslim al-Khuzāʿī al-Ṭarsūsī, and he is truthful and reliable, though he has some errors, but he has been followed up. Al-Ṭaḥāwī said: Ibrāhīm ibn Marzūq narrated to us, ʿAffān ibn Muslim narrated to us, Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, ʿAlī ibn Zayd narrated to us from Abū Ḥarb ibn Abī al-Aswad with it. Likewise, it was narrated by Ḥajjāj ibn Minhal, as Abū ʿUbaydah said in "Faḍāʾil al-Qurʾān" (p. 192): Ḥajjāj narrated to us from Ḥammād ibn Salamah with it. And ʿAlī ibn Zayd - who is Ibn Judʿān - is weak, but he has been followed up by Ḥammād ibn Salamah as previously mentioned from the narration of Abū Umayyah, and he has been followed up by ʿAlī ibn Mus-hir from Dāwūd ibn Abī Hind from Abū Ḥarb ibn Abī al-Aswad from his father, who said: Abū Mūsá al-Ashʿarī sent for the reciters of the people of Basra, and three hundred men who had recited the Qurʾān entered upon him. He said: You are the best of the people of Basra and their reciters, so recite it, and do not let a long time pass upon you lest your hearts harden
