through the route of Abū Muʿāwiyah from Abū Isḥāq al-Shaybānī from Yazīd ibn al-Aṣam from Ibn ʿAbbās who said: and he mentioned it. I said: And this isnād is authentic according to the criteria of Muslim. This is the second ḥadīth indicating his statement: "If the son of Adam had..." it was recited as Qurʾān, then it was abrogated. The third ḥadīth: from Zayd ibn Arqam (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) who said: "We used to recite during the time of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam): If the son of Adam had two valleys of gold and silver, he would seek a third, and nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam except dust, and Allāh forgives those who repent."

It was narrated by Aḥmad (4/368) and this is his wording, and al-Bazzār (4/246/3639) and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (5/207/5032) through the routes from Yūsuf ibn Ṣuhayb who said: Ḥabīb ibn Yasār narrated to me from Zayd ibn Arqam with it. I said: And this isnād is authentic, and its men are trustworthy. And al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (10/243): "It was narrated by Aḥmad and al-Ṭabarānī, and al-Bazzār in a similar manner, and their men are trustworthy." The fourth ḥadīth: from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Buraydah from his father who said: "I heard the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) recite in prayer: If the son of Adam had a valley of gold, he would seek a second, and if he were given a second, he would seek a third, and nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam..." the ḥadīth.
