- "For a man to be stabbed in the head with an iron needle is better than to touch a woman who is not permissible for him." It was narrated by al-Ruyānī in "his Musnad" (227/2): Naṣr ibn ʿAlī informed us: My father informed us, Shaddād ibn Saʿīd informed us from Abū al-ʿAlāʾ who said: Maʿqil ibn Yasār narrated to me as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. I say: This is a good chain of narration, all its men are trustworthy from the narrators of the two Shaykhs except for Shaddād ibn Saʿīd, who is only from the narrators of Muslim. There is slight criticism of him, but it does not lower his ḥadīth from the rank of ḥasan. Therefore, Muslim only included him in the supporting narrations. Al-Dhahabī said in "al-Mīzān": "His ḥadīth is acceptable," and al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "He is truthful but makes mistakes."
