one of them: Muḥammad ibn ʿAbbād al-Makkī, who is trustworthy but makes mistakes, from the men of the two Shaykhs, indeed from their teachers; and the other: Suwayd ibn Sukayn, whom I do not know.

- "Whichever of these is easier for you, do it. Meaning fasting during Ramaḍān or breaking it while traveling." He said: and mentioned it. I said: And this isnād is authentic, its men are trustworthy from the men of "al-Tahdhīb" except for this al-Sūsī, whom Ibn ʿAsākir mentioned in "Tārīkh Dimashq" (2/213) with a narration from a group about him, and he narrated from Abū Saʿīd ibn Yūnus who said about him: "He died in the year (339) and was trustworthy, and his books were excellent." And Ibn Lahīʿah has weakness in his memory except in the narration of the ʿAbbādilah from him, which is authentic, and this is one of them as you see. And the ḥadīth has other paths from Ḥamzah ibn ʿAmr (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) with different wordings. One of them is in "Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim" and it is extracted in "al-Irwāʾ" (926).
