It has also been previously referenced with number (962). In summary, the ḥadīth is authentic with its collective supporting narrations, especially the most recent of them. And Allāh, the Exalted, knows best. It is also supported by the ḥadīth of Layth from Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir from Umm Darrah from ʿĀʾishah, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: "I and the one who sponsors an orphan, whether his own or another's, will be in Paradise, and the one who strives for the widow and the poor is like the one who fights in the way of Allāh." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" (1/291/2/4878) from Sahl ibn ʿUthmān who said: Ḥafṣ ibn Ghiyāth narrated it to us from him. He said: "No one narrated it from Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir except Layth, and no one from Layth except Ḥafṣ; Sahl ibn ʿUthmān was unique in narrating it!" This is what he said! But it is refuted by the statement of Abū Yaʿlá in "his Musnad" (8/280/4866): ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ṣāliḥ al-Azdī narrated to us, Ḥafṣ ibn Ghiyāth narrated it to us, except he did not mention: "his own or another's." So ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ṣāliḥ corroborated Sahl. And it should not be said: perhaps—meaning al-Ṭabarānī—intended by the aforementioned negation the ḥadīth with this addition, because that is not their custom, as anyone familiar with their words knows. Then Abū Yaʿlá added at the end of the ḥadīth: ".. and the fasting, standing [in prayer] one does not tire."
