i was with the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) at the trench, and he took the pickaxe and dug with it. He encountered a rock and laughed. It was said: "What makes you laugh, O Messenger of Allāh?" He said: "I laughed at people who will be brought from the east in chains and driven to Paradise." It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/338) with this wording, and by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (6/157/5733), who added: "while they are unwilling." Al-Haythamī said: "It was narrated by Aḥmad and al-Ṭabarānī, except that he said: 'They will be brought to Paradise in iron chains,' and in another narration: 'They will be driven to Paradise while they are unwilling.' Its narrators are those of (the authentic collections) except for Muḥammad ibn [Abī] Yaḥyá al-Aslamī, who is trustworthy." I say: There are two issues: First, that al-Fuḍayl ibn Sulaymān, although he is among the narrators of the two Shaykhs, is truthful but makes many mistakes, as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb." The second is that the narration of "chains" with al-Ṭabarānī does not include the trustworthy al-Aslamī, as it is with him (6/232/5955) from another route through al-Fuḍayl ibn Sulaymān from Abū Ḥāzim from Sahl ibn Saʿd with a similar wording. Al-Fuḍayl omitted Muḥammad ibn Abī Yaḥyá from the isnād and replaced him with "Abū Ḥāzim," which perhaps indicates his error and lack of precision. His statement: "They will be brought from the east," is an objectionable addition not found in other ḥadīths, and for this reason, I classified it in "al-Ḍaʿīfah" (4034)
كنت مع النبي ﷺ بالخندق، فأخذ الكرزين فحفر به، فصادف حجرا، فضحك، قيل: ما يضحكك يا رسول الله؟ قال: " ضحكت من ناس يؤتى بهم من قبل المشرق في النكول يساقون إلى الجنة ". أخرجه أحمد (٥ / ٣٣٨) والسياق له، والطبراني في " الكبير " (٦ / ١٥٧ / ٥٧٣٣) وزاد: " وهم كارهون ". وقال الهيثمي: " رواه أحمد والطبراني، إلا أنه قال: " يؤتى بهم إلى الجنة في كبول الحديد "، وفي رواية: " يساقون إلى الجنة وهم كارهون "، ورجاله رجال (الصحيح) غير محمد بن [أبي] يحيى الأسلمي، وهو ثقة ". قلت: وفيه شيئان: الأول: أن الفضيل بن سليمان وإن كان من رجال الشيخين، صدوقا، فله خطأ كثير كما في " التقريب ". والآخر: أن رواية " الكبول " عند الطبراني ليس فيها الأسلمي الثقة، فإنها عنده (٦ / ٢٣٢ / ٥٩٥٥) من طريق أخرى عن الفضيل بن سليمان عن أبي حازم عن سهل بن سعد به نحوه. فأسقط الفضيل من الإسناد محمد بن أبي يحيى عن العباس بن سهل، وأحل محلهما " أبي حازم "، ولعل ذلك مما يدل على خطئه وقلة ضبطه، وقوله: " يؤتى بهم من قبل المشرق "، زيادة منكرة لم تأت في الأحاديث الأخرى، ولذلك خرجتها في " الضعيفة " (٤٠٣٤).
