He was also followed by Abū Saʿīd, the client of Banū Hāshim, who is trustworthy and one of the men of al-Bukhārī. He said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Jaʿfar al-Makhzūmī narrated to us with it, except for the middle sentence: "and the breaking of the fast is when you break the fast." It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī in his "Sunan" (4/252). There is another route for the ḥadīth from Abū Hurayrah, as Ibn Mājah said (1/509): "Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar al-Muqriʾ narrated to us, Isḥāq ibn ʿĪsá narrated to us, Ḥammād ibn Zayd narrated to us from Ayyūb from Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn from Abū Hurayrah with it, except for the first sentence. And this isnād [chain of transmission] consists of men all of whom are trustworthy except for Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar al-Muqriʾ, who is unknown as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb." I believe there is an error in his saying "Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn," and it is actually "Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir." This is how it was narrated by al-ʿAbbās ibn Muḥammad ibn Hārūn and ʿAlī ibn Sahl, who said: Isḥāq ibn ʿĪsá al-Ṭabbāʿ narrated to us from Ḥammād ibn Zayd from Ayyūb from Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir from Abū Hurayrah with it. It was recorded by al-Dāraqutnī in his "Sunan" (257-258). Similarly, it was narrated by Muḥammad ibn ʿUbayd, who is Ibn Ḥisāb, a trustworthy narrator from the men of Muslim, from Ḥammād ibn Zayd with it. It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (1/366): Muḥammad ibn ʿUbayd narrated to us with it. Similarly, it was narrated by Rūḥ ibn al-Qāsim, ʿAbd al-Wārith, and Maʿmar from Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir with it. It was recorded by al-Dāraqutnī and Abū ʿAlī al-Harawī in "al-Awwal min al-Thānī min al-Fawāʾid" (Q 20/1) from Rūḥ. And it was recorded by al-Bayhaqī from ʿAbd al-Wārith. And it was recorded by al-Harawī from Maʿmar, pairing him with Rūḥ. It was narrated from both of them by Yazīd ibn Zurayʿ, and he differed in his narration from Maʿmar. Yaḥyá ibn al-Yamān said: from Maʿmar from Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir from ʿĀʾishah, who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it, also without the first sentence.
