610 - [Islamic University Manuscript] from Yūnus ibn Muḥammad from al-Layth: Jaʿfar ibn Rabīʿah narrated to us from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Hurmaz from Abū Hurayrah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. I said: And this isnād is authentic; all its men are trustworthy, the men of the two Shaykhs, and al-Bukhārī has suspended it in places in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" (1498, 2063, 2291, 2404, 2430, 2734, 6261) with a decisive form: "And al-Layth said...", and he connected it in the narration of Abū Dharr and Abū al-Waqt, saying: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated to us: al-Layth narrated to me... as in "al-Fatḥ" (4/470) and he suspended a part of it in the last mentioned place, saying: And ʿUmar ibn Abī Salamah said from his father from Abū Hurayrah. And he connected it in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (1128) and Ibn Ḥibbān (6453 - al-Iḥsān) and this is weak, ʿUmar ibn Abī Salamah is al-Zuhrī the judge, al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful but makes mistakes." And al-Dhahabī said in "al-Mughnī": "Ibn Maʿīn weakened him, and al-Nasāʾī and others said: He is not strong." I said: So someone like him is not used as evidence, but only in follow-ups and supporting narrations, and he contradicted here the first authentic narration in places, including his statement: "Six hundred dinars" instead of a thousand. And he added at the end, saying: "Abū Hurayrah said: Indeed, I saw us increasing our disputes and noise in the presence of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) among ourselves as to which of them believed." And the commentator on "al-Iḥsān / al-Muʾassasah" (14/409) overlooked all of this, claiming that its isnād is ḥasan! And in addition to that, he did not notice the denials that occurred in it! Perhaps for this reason, al-Haythamī did not include it in "al-Mawārid", and I have noted it in "Ḍaʿīf al-Mawārid"
