the tenth edition, so it is hoped that this error will be corrected by anyone who has a copy of the book. I also hope to be able to reprint the book here in Oman, corrected and expanded, by His permission, the Exalted. The credit for alerting me to this error goes to the esteemed Shaykh Bakr ibn ʿAbd Allāh Abū Zayd, in a letter he kindly sent to me dated 20/2/1409 AH. May Allāh reward him with goodness. Then the book was printed in a new edition in Oman - 1411 AH, revised and expanded, and the mentioned wording was corrected, and all praise is due to Allāh, with acknowledgment to the one who deserves credit for it.

- "I did this so that my community would not be burdened. Meaning the combining of the two prayers." It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (10/269/10525): Idrīs ibn ʿAbd al-Karīm al-Ḥaddād narrated to us, Aḥmad ibn Ḥātim al-Ṭawīl narrated to us, ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Quddūs narrated to us from al-Aʿmash from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Tharwān from Zādhān who said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) combined the ẓuhr and ʿaṣr prayers, and the maghrib and ʿishāʾ prayers, so it was said to him, and he mentioned it. And it was narrated in "al-Awsaṭ" (1/46/1) through another chain from Ibn al-Quddūs with it. Then he referred to the narration of (Aḥmad al-Ṭawīl) mentioned. I say: This isnād is good; all its men are trustworthy except for ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Quddūs, whom Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned in "al-Thiqāt" (7/48), and the ḥāfiẓ reported that he said: "He might occasionally narrate something strange."
