their elders, because Ḥibbān is a Tābiʿī from the fifth generation according to the ḥāfiẓ, and they are a group whose anonymity does not harm, as is known among the scholars. Their narration of this story indicates that it was well-known among them and circulated among them. The ḥāfiẓ mentioned in "al-Iṣābah" a corroborating report from the mursal of Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad from his father: that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was walking with a date palm stalk, and he struck Sawād ibn Ghaziyyah al-Anṣārī with it... and he mentioned the story. I said: Ibn Saʿd also narrated it in the biography of Sawād ibn Ghaziyyah (3/516-517) with a sound chain from al-Ḥasan in mursal form with the wording: "Sawād ibn ʿAmr saw..." Ibn Saʿd said: Ismāʿīl said it like this, meaning Ibn ʿUlayyah. The ḥāfiẓ inclined towards the multiplicity of the story. And Allāh knows best.
- "There is no one from my nation except that I will recognize them on the Day of Resurrection." They said: "How will you recognize them, O Messenger of Allāh, among the multitude of creatures?" He said: "Have you seen if you entered a pen with dark black horses and there was a horse with a white blaze and white feet, would you not recognize it among them?" They said: "Yes." He said: "Indeed, my nation on that day will have bright faces from prostration, and white limbs from ablution." It was narrated by Aḥmad (4/189) and al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī in "al-Mukhtārah" (55/114/1-2) through various chains from Ṣafwān ibn ʿAmr: Yazīd ibn Khumayr al-Raḥabī narrated to us from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Busr al-Māzinī from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) that he said: and he mentioned it. I said: This is a sound isnād, and it is according to the conditions of Muslim as al-Ḍiyāʾ said, and al-Tirmidhī extracted the last part of it (607), and said: "It is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ gharīb from this route."
