contrary to the sharīʿah, such as praying in shoes, for the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) commanded it to be done differently from the Jews. There may also be differences with them in matters that are part of Allāh's creation in all humans, with no distinction between Muslim and disbeliever, or man and woman, such as gray hair. Yet, he commanded dyeing it to be different from them, as previously mentioned. This is the most emphatic command to differ. Therefore, a Muslim who is keen on his religion should observe this in all aspects of his life, for by doing so, he avoids falling into the violation of the command to differ, let alone his salvation from resembling the disbelievers, which is the severe ailment of our time. And Allāh is the One whose help is sought.

- "Align yourself, Sawād!" It was narrated by Ibn Isḥāq in "al-Sīrah" (2/266 - Sīrat Ibn Hishām) and through him by Abū Nuʿaym in "Maʿrifat al-Ṣaḥābah" (folio 303/1) and Ibn al-Athīr in "Usd al-Ghābah" (2/332). Ibn Isḥāq said: Ḥabbān ibn Wāsiʿ ibn Ḥabbān narrated to me from the elders of his people: that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was straightening the rows of his companions on the day of Badr, and in his hand was a stick with which he was aligning the people. He passed by Sawād ibn Ghaziyyah - an ally of Banū ʿAdī ibn al-Najjār - who was protruding from the row, so he poked him in the belly with the stick and said, "Align yourself, Sawād." He said: "O Messenger of Allāh! You have hurt me, and you have been sent by Allāh with truth and justice, so allow me to retaliate." He said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) uncovered his belly and said, "Retaliate." He said: So he embraced him and kissed his belly, and said: "What made you do this, O Sawād?" He said: "O Messenger of Allāh! The situation you see is present, and I wanted the last thing I touch to be your skin!" So the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) prayed for good for him and mentioned him. I said: And this isnād is good, if Allāh wills, because the elders from Ḥabbān's people are from the Anṣār. If they were Companions, there is no issue, and if they were from the Tābiʿīn, they are from
