I said: rather, both of them are from the men of the authentic collections. Fourth: Muslim ibn Khālid al-Zanjī: Ibn Khuthaym narrated it to me. It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" (8/148/6468 - al-Iḥsān). The ḥadīth of the chapter has a corroborating narration from Salamah ibn al-Akwaʿ regarding the story of the Battle of Ḥunayn, in which it is mentioned: "When they overwhelmed the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), he dismounted from the mule, then took a handful of earth and faced them with it, saying: 'May the faces be disfigured.' There was not a single person created by Allāh among them except that his eyes were filled with dust from that handful, and they turned back in retreat..." It was recorded by Muslim (5/169) and Ibn Ḥibbān (6486) with a good isnād. Another corroborating narration is from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Fahrī in the same story. It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/286), al-Bazzār (2/350/1833), as well as al-Ṭayālisī (195/1371), al-Dārimī (2/219-220), and al-Dūlābī (1/42) through the route of Ḥammād ibn Salamah: Yaʿlá ibn ʿAṭāʾ informed me from Abū Hammām ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yasār from him. This Abū Hammām is unknown as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb," and Ibn Ḥibbān deviated by mentioning him in "al-Thiqāt" (5/51). Through the route of al-Ṭayālisī, it was also recorded by al-Bayhaqī in "al-Dalāʾil" (5/141) and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (22/288-289). It is a ḥasan ḥadīth due to other supporting narrations as I have verified in "Ṣaḥīḥ Zawāʾid al-Bazzār," and it was also narrated by Abū Dāwūd (5233), but he did not narrate it in full, so the part that serves as evidence is not included, and he said: "It is a noble ḥadīth, narrated by Ḥammād ibn Salamah."
