in "al-Sunan al-Kubrā" (1/46) and Ibn ʿAsākir in "Tārīkh Dimashq" (17/315/1) through various chains from Muʿāwiyah ibn Ṣāliḥ, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Jubayr ibn Nufayr, from his father: that Abū Jubayr came to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) with his daughter whom the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) had married, and the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) ordered water for ablution for him, and said: "Perform ablution, O Abū Jubayr." So Abū Jubayr began with his mouth, and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "Do not begin with your mouth..." (the ḥadīth), then the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) called for water for ablution, washed his hands until he cleaned them, then rinsed his mouth and nose three times, washed his face three times, washed his right hand up to the elbow [three times], the left three times, wiped his head, and washed his feet, and this narration is from Dūlābī. I say: This isnād is authentic, its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of Muslim, and there is a suspicion of disconnection, because Jubayr ibn Nufayr did not have companionship, although he lived during the pre-Islamic period, but it appears he received it from his father Nufayr, who had known companionship, and al-Nasāʾī has reported in "al-Kuná" through the route of Ṣafwān ibn ʿAmr: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Jubayr ibn Nufayr narrated to me from his father from his grandfather. And others have said similarly from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān with it. So refer to "al-Iṣābah" and the following ḥadīth (2823). (Note): It appeared in (al-Sunan) ".. from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Jubayr ibn Nufayr from his father Jubayr that he came.." making it from the musnad of Jubayr, and that he was the one who came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), which is undoubtedly a typographical error as it contradicts other sources, and the route is the same.
