this, O reader, applies to those who have no knowledge of the ḥadīth of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), regardless of their status and position in other fields of this noble science. The ḥadīth was mentioned by al-Suyūṭī in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr" (2736 and 7222) from the narration of Aḥmad and al-Khaṭīb from a man among the Companions, and he left it ambiguous without clarifying its level of authenticity, as is often his habit, and the committee responsible for its publication and commentary did the same! They should have at least commented on it with the words of al-Haythamī in "Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid" (7/343): "Narrated by Aḥmad, and its men are the men of the ṣaḥīḥ"! Even though this does not indicate to the reader that the isnād is authentic, as we have pointed out repeatedly. And al-Haythamī mentioned a corroborating narration for it from Aḥmad and al-Ṭabarānī from Hishām ibn ʿĀmir, raised to the Prophet with a similar wording, and he said about the men of Aḥmad: "The men of the ṣaḥīḥ." It is with him (4/20) through the route of ʿAbd al-Razzāq, and this is in "al-Muṣannaf" (11/395/20828) where he said: Maʿmar informed us from Ayyūb from Abū Qilābah from Hishām ibn ʿĀmir with a similar wording. This isnād is also authentic, and from it, we deduced the name of the Companion who was not named in the first isnād, and if this naming is preserved in it, it gives us another benefit, which is that Abū Qilābah heard from Hishām ibn ʿĀmir, contrary to what some have said that he did not hear from him, and Allāh knows best.
