"it was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī from his teacher Abū Yaḥyá al-Rāzī, whom I do not know, and the rest of the narrators are trustworthy." Al-Munāwī confirmed this in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Azhar"! Thus he said, and there are matters within: Firstly, Abū Yaḥyá al-Rāzī is ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Muḥammad ibn Salm al-Rāzī as mentioned in "al-Muqtaṇá fī al-Kuná" by al-Dhahabī. Al-Ṭabarānī narrated one ḥadīth from him in "al-Muʿjam al-Ṣaghīr" (1197) using his name and kunyah, but he attributed him to his grandfather without mentioning his father and similarly mentioned him without the kunyah in "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ", where he listed twenty-six ḥadīths (4864 - 4890 - by my numbering), one of which (4874) is from his narration from Maḥmūd ibn Ghaylān, his teacher in the ḥadīth of the translation. Abū al-Shaykh translated him in "Ṭabaqāt al-Aṣbahāniyyīn" (339/459) attributing him to his father and grandfather and with his kunyah, as did Abū Nuʿaym in "Akhbār Aṣbahān" (2/112) and al-Dhahabī in "Tadhkirat al-Ḥuffāẓ" who said: "He was among the trustworthy, and he died in the year 291." Secondly, Muʾammil is Ibn Ismāʿīl al-Baṣrī, a resident of Mecca, and there is disagreement about him. More than one of the early scholars described him as frequently mistaken despite his truthfulness, and al-Dhahabī leaned towards this in "al-Kāshif", while al-Ḥāfiẓ in "al-Taqrīb" said: "Truthful, but poor in memory." So including someone like him among the trustworthy is evidently lenient. Thirdly, Abū Isḥāq - who is al-Sabīʿī - used to practice tadlīs, and he narrated it with ʿanʿanah. However, the ḥadīth is authentic as it has a strong corroboration from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah, raised to the Prophet, except that it said: "For Allāh is its Provider."
