"O Allāh, I love him, so love him. Meaning al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (3749), Muslim (7/130), Aḥmad (4/283-284), as well as al-Ṭayālisī (732) and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (2582) from Shuʿbah who said: ʿAdī informed me, saying: I heard al-Barāʾ (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) say: "I saw the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) with al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī on his shoulder saying: ..." and he mentioned it. Faḍīl ibn Marzūq followed him from ʿAdī ibn Thābit with it. It was also recorded by al-Ṭabarānī (258) through the route of Abū Nuʿaym from him. Abū Usāmah differed, saying: from Faḍīl ibn Marzūq with it, except that he said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) saw al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn and said: O Allāh, I love them, so love them." Al-Ḥusayn was mentioned in it, which is anomalous due to its contradiction with the narration of Abū Nuʿaym from him, and with the narration of Shuʿbah from ʿAdī. Ashʿath ibn Sawwār followed him from ʿAdī... with it. It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī (2584). However, it seems that this anomalous wording in the ḥadīth of al-Barāʾ is preserved from the ḥadīth of others among the Companions: 1 - from ʿAṭāʾ that a man informed him that he saw the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) embracing al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn, saying: "O Allāh, I love them, so love them."
