I said: Two matters were hidden from him: the first is that Ibn Lahīʿah's ḥadīth is authentic in the narration of the ʿAbbādilah from him, and this is from the narration of one of them, who is Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Muqriʾ as previously mentioned. The second is that Ibn Lahīʿah was not the only one who narrated it; rather, he was followed by al-Layth ibn Saʿd and others, as has been previously explained. And the commentator on "Musnad Abī Yaʿlá," Sayyid Ḥusayn Salīm Asad, followed him in all of this, saying (3/285): "Its isnād is weak due to the weakness of Ibn Lahīʿah, and Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān is ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yazīd al-Muqriʾ"!! And his saying: (yabdūn) means they go out to the desert to seek places of milk in the pastures, as in "al-Nihāyah."

"Keep your wealth to yourself." He said this to someone who wanted to give charity with his mother's jewelry without her having made a will. Al-Ṭabarānī narrated it (17/281/773) through two chains from Wahb ibn Jarīr: My father told me, he said: I heard Yaḥyá ibn Ayyūb narrating from Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb from Abū al-Khayr Marthad ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Yaznī from ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir who said: A man came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: My mother passed away and left jewelry without making a will, will it benefit her if I give charity on her behalf? He said: and he mentioned it. I said: And this isnād is authentic according to the conditions of the two shaykhs, and Yaḥyá ibn Ayyūb is al-Ghāfiqī, the ḥāfiẓ said:
