it was recorded by ʿAbd al-Razzāq (11/456/20995) and through his route by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (9/195/8867) with a chain of narrators who are trustworthy, but it is disconnected. then I found another route for the ḥadīth of Ṣuhayb. Al-Ṭaḥāwī said in "Mushkil al-Āthār" (3/215): Aḥmad ibn Shuʿayb narrated to us, saying: Muḥammad ibn Naṣr informed us, saying: Ayyūb ibn Sulaymān ibn Bilāl narrated from Abū Suhayl ibn Mālik from his father that he used to hear ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb leading the people in prayer in the mosque of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) from the house of Abū Juhm. he said: Kaʿb al-Aḥbār said: By the One who split the sea for Mūsá, Ṣuhayb narrated to me: Muḥammad, the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), did not see a village he intended to enter except that he said when he saw it: "O Allāh, Lord of the seven heavens and what they cover..." and so on with the supplication, and he added: "Kaʿb swore by the One who split the sea for Mūsá that these were the supplications of Dāwūd when he saw the enemy." I say: This is a sound isnād; its narrators are trustworthy, the men of al-Bukhārī, except for Muḥammad ibn Naṣr, who is al-Farrāʾ al-Nīsābūrī, and he is trustworthy. Aḥmad ibn Shuʿayb is Imām al-Nasāʾī, the author of the "al-Sunan al-Ṣughrā" known as "al-Mujtabá," which is printed, and "al-Sunan al-Kubrā," which has not been printed yet, except for the Book of Purification, which was printed through the efforts of Shaykh ʿAbd al-Ṣamad Sharaf al-Dīn, may Allāh reward him well. al-Nasāʾī also narrated it in "Kitāb al-Siyar" from it with this isnād, as mentioned in "Tuhfat al-Ashrāf" by al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Mizzī (4/201), and likewise, al-Nasāʾī narrated it in "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (no. 343). Abū Suhayl's name is Nāfiʿ ibn Mālik ibn Abī ʿĀmir al-Aṣbaḥī, and he and his father are among the narrators of the two Shaykhs
