"When he intended to sleep, he would place his hand under his right cheek and say: 'O Allāh, protect me from Your punishment on the day You resurrect Your servants.'" This is reported from the ḥadīth of al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, Ḥudhayfah ibn al-Yamān, and Ḥafṣah bint ʿUmar. 1 - As for the ḥadīth of al-Barāʾ, it is narrated by Abū Isḥāq al-Sabīʿī, and there is a difference regarding its isnād in several ways: the first is from him from al-Barāʾ with it. It was also narrated by Zakarīyā - who is Ibn Abī Zāʾidah - from him with it. It was recorded by Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (9/76/6588 and 10/251/9360). It was also narrated by Yūnus ibn ʿAmr - who is Ibn Abī Isḥāq - who said: My father told me: al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib narrated it with it. It was recorded by Abū Yaʿlá in "Musnad" (2/472) and from him by Ibn Ḥibbān in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (2350 - al-Mawārid) through the route of Yūnus ibn Bukayr from him. There is discussion regarding the memory of the two Yūnuses, so it is feared that one of them made a mistake in mentioning the transmission between Abū Isḥāq and al-Barāʾ, especially since Abū Yaʿlá narrated it with the same isnād from Abū Isḥāq from Abū ʿUbaydah from his father, meaning Ibn Masʿūd, and he was corroborated as will be mentioned.
