"Correcting His Mistake" by Ibn Qutaybah, and I regret that I did not find in my draft, from which I transcribed the ḥadīth with its isnād from "Gharīb," its source from public libraries. In the printed version, there is an indication of the isnād, for I learned that Abū ʿUbayd narrated it through his teacher Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan al-Shaybānī. He said, after quoting al-Aṣmaʿī's pronunciation of the word (al-nabl) with a ḍammah on the nūn and a fatḥah on the bāʾ: "Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan said: he says: al-nabl are the stones used for istinjāʾ." Then, al-Suyūṭī included the ḥadīth in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr" with the wording: "Keep away from traces when you go to the toilet, and prepare al-nabl, and beware of the accursed places. None of you should relieve himself under a tree where someone might sit, nor near a place where people drink, lest they curse you." He attributed it to ʿAbd al-Razzāq as mursal. I did not see it in "al-Muṣannaf" by ʿAbd al-Razzāq, and perhaps it is in the first section which was not printed because its editor, Shaykh al-Aʿẓamī, did not find it. And Allāh knows best. In summary, the ḥadīth with these supporting evidences is authentic without doubt. All praise is due to Allāh for His guidance, and I ask Him for more of His generosity and grace. Then I saw that the ḥāfiẓ attributed to ʿAbd al-Razzāq a series of his ḥadīth from Ibn Jurayj from al-Shaʿbī as mursal. See "al-Talkhīṣ" (1/107).
