(3/155) through the route of Ḥammād ibn Salamah from ʿĀṣim ibn Bahdalah from Zur ibn Ḥubaysh from ʿAbdullāh who said: I was gathering arāk for the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and the people laughed at the thinness of my legs. The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) then mentioned it, and the narration is according to Ibn Saʿd, with additions from others. I say: This isnād is good, and it is authentic through its numerous routes with al-Ṭabarānī (8453, 8454, and 8517), Ibn Saʿd, and with the following supporting narrations: The first: from Muʿāwiyah ibn Qurrah from his father who said: Ibn Masʿūd was on a tree gathering for them from it, and a wind blew, revealing his legs, and they laughed... the ḥadīth. It was recorded by Ibn Jarīr al-Ṭabarī in "al-Tahdhīb" (Musnad ʿAlī / 163 / 262 - Shākir), al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (19/28/59), and al-Ḥākim (3/317) through the route of Sahl ibn Ḥammād Abū ʿAtāb al-Dallāl: Shuʿbah narrated to us, saying: Muʿāwiyah ibn Qurrah narrated it. Al-Ḥākim said: "The isnād is authentic." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I say: Rather, it is according to the conditions of Muslim, for all its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the two Shaykhs except for al-Dallāl, who is among the individuals of Muslim. He was contradicted as will be mentioned, and Qurrah, the father of Muʿāwiyah, is a well-known Companion, so it does not harm that Muslim did not include it. It was also recorded by al-Ṭayālisī in "his Musnad" (1078) who said: Shuʿbah narrated to us from Muʿāwiyah ibn Qurrah that Ibn Masʿūd... the ḥadīth, and he narrated it as mursal. Yūnus ibn Ḥabīb, the narrator of the Musnad, said: "This is how Abū Dāwūd narrated it, and others besides Abū Dāwūd narrated it from Shuʿbah from Muʿāwiyah ibn Qurrah from his father."
