this ḥadīth refutes it, as it is narrated by Fayāḍ from him, as you can see, and the chain of transmission to him is authentic according to the criteria of Muslim. This is an important benefit not found in the well-known books of men, not even in "al-Tahdhīb." Despite that, it is said in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful!" So hold onto it firmly, and Muḥammad ibn ʿAṭiyyah was followed in his narration from Anas but with the wording: "The builders of Allāh's houses are Allāh's people." However, there is weakness in its chain of transmission, and for that reason, I included it in the other book under number (1682).
- "He was not imagined by those who saw him." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (10/264/10510): Muḥammad ibn ʿAbdūs ibn Kāmil narrated to us: al-Walīd ibn Shujāʿ narrated to us, al-Muṭṭalib ibn Ziyād narrated to us from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿĪsá from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Laylá from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd who said: and he mentioned it as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. I say: This is a good chain of transmission; all its men are trustworthy from the men of "al-Tahdhīb," except for Ibn ʿAbdūs, who is trustworthy and has a good biography with al-Khaṭīb in "al-Tārīkh" (2/381). There is a disagreement regarding al-Muṭṭalib ibn Ziyād that does not harm, if Allāh wills, and the ḥāfiẓ indicated this by saying about him in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful, perhaps he made mistakes." A similar statement is made by al-Haythamī in "al-Majmaʿ" (7/182): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī, and its men are trustworthy." I say: It has been authenticated from his saying (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) through another route from Ibn Masʿūd (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) with the wording: "Whoever sees me in a dream, then it is indeed me he has seen, for Satan cannot imitate me."
