and he was followed by Abū Muʿāwiyah: al-Aʿmash narrated to us with it, except that he said: "And what am I and my wealth except for you, O Messenger of Allāh?" It was recorded by Ibn Abī Shaybah (12/759) and Aḥmad (2/252) from him, as well as Ibn Mājah (1/49), Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim (1229), and Ibn Ḥibbān (2166) through various chains from him. It is also authentic like the one before it. There is another chain narrated by Maḥbūb ibn Muḥriz al-Qawārīrī from Dāwūd ibn Yazīd al-Umawī from his father from Abū Hurayrah with it. It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (3262) who said: "A ḥadīth that is ḥasan gharīb from this perspective." I said: Maḥbūb is lenient in ḥadīth, and Dāwūd is weak, and his father is considered acceptable by Ibn Ḥajar, so al-Tirmidhī's statement is acceptable, if he had not said: "gharīb.."! because it contradicts his intention of saying: ḥasan due to other supporting evidence!
- "He was uncovering his thigh, and Abū Bakr sought permission to enter, so he permitted him while he was in that state. Then ʿUmar sought permission, and he permitted him while he was in that state. Then ʿUthmān sought permission, and he covered himself with his clothes. When they left, I said: O Messenger of Allāh! Abū Bakr sought permission to enter while you were in that state...(and in it) he said: O ʿĀʾishah, should I not be shy of a man, by Allāh, even the angels are shy of him." It was recorded by Ibn Rāhwayh in "his Musnad" (108/1): Marwān ibn Muʿāwiyah al-Fazārī informed us, ʿAbd Allāh ibn Sayyār, the client of Banū Ṭalḥah ibn ʿUbayd Allāh al-Qurashiyyīn, informed us, saying: I heard ʿĀʾishah bint Ṭalḥah narrating from ʿĀʾishah, the Mother of the Believers, and she mentioned it
