from ʿUrwah in a similar manner, in an abridged form. al-Ḥāfiẓ attributed it (1/483) to Abū Dāwūd as well, and he only connected it through Ibn Shihāb from ʿUrwah. I will undertake its extraction in "The Book of Clothing" from "Ṣaḥīḥ Abī Dāwūd," if Allāh wills.

"No wealth has benefited us, like the wealth of Abū Bakr has benefited us." It was narrated by Ibn Rāhwayh in "his Musnad" (4/80/1): Sufyān al-Thawrī informed us from al-Zuhrī from ʿUrwah—if Allāh wills—from ʿĀʾishah that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said it: and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs, and al-Zuhrī's statement "if Allāh wills" does not harm [its authenticity], because the narrator may sometimes doubt, and it has been narrated by others without doubt. It was extracted by al-Ḥumaydī (1/121/250), Abū Yaʿlá in "his Musnad" (3/1090), and Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim in "al-Sunnah" (1230) from Sufyān with it. And Sufyān is Ibn ʿUyaynah. Ibn Ḥibbān narrated (2167) through the route of Hishām ibn ʿUrwah from his father from ʿĀʾishah who said: "Abū Bakr spent forty thousand on the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)." And its isnād is authentic. And the ḥadīth has a witness from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah in a marfūʿ form with it, and it adds: "He said: Abū Bakr wept and said: 'Has Allāh benefited me except through you? Has Allāh benefited me except through you? Has Allāh benefited me except through you?'" It was extracted by Aḥmad (2/366): Muʿāwiyah narrated to us, he said: Abū Isḥāq—meaning al-Fazārī—narrated to us from al-Aʿmash from Abū Ṣāliḥ from him. I say: This isnād is authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs, and Muʿāwiyah is Ibn ʿAmr al-Azdī. And Abū Isḥāq's name is Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥārith
