and this is a sound mursal isnād, and it has been reported in a connected form, though abridged, through various paths from Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl who said: Bakr told me that he informed him: that Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī saw a vision in which he was writing * (ṣ) *, and when he reached its prostration, he saw the inkwell, pen, and everything around him prostrate. He said: He related it to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he continued to prostrate with it thereafter. It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/78 and 84) through the path of Yazīd ibn Zurayʿ and Ibn Abī ʿAdī, and by al-Ḥākim (2/432) through the path of Ḥammād ibn Salamah, all three from Ḥumayd with it. Al-Ḥākim remained silent about it, and al-Dhahabī said: "According to the criteria of Muslim." I say: It is indeed so, rather it is according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim] except that its apparent form is mursal due to his saying: that Abū Saʿīd... and this is supported by the narration of Hishām: Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl informed us from Bakr ibn ʿAbd Allāh who said: A reporter informed me from Abū Saʿīd who said: and he mentioned it, except he said: I returned to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and informed him, and he ordered prostration in it. It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī (2/320). However, it can be said: This narration is anomalous due to its contradiction with the narration of the three trustworthy narrators, but this itself is not connected as we mentioned. And Allāh knows best. As for the evidence, the supplication in it is with the wording: "O Allāh, write for me with it a reward with You, and make it a treasure for me with You, and remove from me with it a burden, and accept it from me as You accepted from Your servant Dāwūd." It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (579 and 3420), Ibn Mājah (1/325), Ibn Ḥibbān (691) through the path of Ibn Khuzaymah, and by al-Ḥākim (1/219) and al-Bayhaqī (2/320)
