and I say: someone like him is considered ḥasan in ḥadīth, if Allāh wills, due to the narration of three trustworthy individuals from him. Therefore, it is more appropriate to attribute any weakness to those above him, such as his teacher ʿAbd Allāh ibn Saʿd al-Madanī, for I did not find a biography for him. His name appears in the biography of al-Yamān in "al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl" as "ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Saʿīd al-Madanī," and the commentator noted: "K" Saʿd "is an error." Perhaps what was considered an error is actually correct, as it matches what is in the two books: "Musnad Abī Yaʿlá" and "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ." His teacher's teacher, "Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf," was mentioned by al-Bukhārī in "al-Tārīkh" and by Ibn Abī Ḥātim in his book through the narration of Ibn al-Munkadir and his son ʿAbd al-Wāḥid from him, and they did not mention any criticism or approval. Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" based on their narration from him. I say: the flaw in this isnād, according to me, is ʿAbd Allāh. However, the ḥadīth has another chain and a supporting narration that strengthen it, if Allāh wills. As for the chain, ʿAbd al-Razzāq said in "al-Muṣannaf" (3/337/5869): from Ibn ʿUyaynah, from ʿĀṣim ibn Sulaymān, from Bakr ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Muzanī: that a man came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: O Messenger of Allāh! I saw as if a man was writing the Qurʾān and a tree was in front of him. When he passed by the place of prostration in *Ṣād*, it prostrated and said: "O Allāh, make this a cause for gratitude for me, increase my reward through it, and remove a sin by it." The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "We are more deserving than the tree."
