and I spoke about the lengthening of pants and trousers because this suspicion has arisen among some youth. As for the lengthening of the robes by some scholars, especially in Egypt, and the lengthening of the cloaks by princes in some Arab countries, it is a matter whose reprehensibility is evident. We ask Allāh for safety and guidance. I wrote this in the hope that among those upon whom the previous suspicion arose, there might be someone sincere, so that when the truth becomes clear to them, they hasten to abandon that affliction, just as the young man who wore a Yemeni garment dragging it on the ground did. Ibn ʿUmar (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) said to him: "Young man, come here!" He replied: "What do you need, O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān?" He said: "Woe to you! Do you wish that Allāh looks at you on the Day of Resurrection?" He replied: "Glory be to Allāh! What would prevent me from wishing that?" He said: "I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: 'Allāh does not look...'." That young man was not seen except with his garment raised until he died. It was narrated by al-Bayhaqī with a sound chain, and by Aḥmad (2/65) through another route from Ibn ʿUmar with a similar narration, without the statement: "That young man was not seen...".

"There will be in the last part of my nation men who ride on saddles resembling the backs of camels, who dismount at the doors of mosques. Their women are clothed yet naked, with heads like the humps of lean camels. Curse them, for they are cursed. If there were a nation after you, their women would serve yours just as the women of the nations before you served you." It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/223), and by al-Mukhliṣ in "Some of the Fifth Part of Selected Benefits and Oddities" (p. 264/1), and this is his wording. It was also recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (1454 - Mawārid), and by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Ṣaghīr" (232 - Hind) and "al-Awsaṭ"
