(his reproach) meaning his rebuke. Then I found another route for it, and al-Bazzār said (1310): Maʿmar ibn Sahl narrated to us, Khālid ibn Makhlad narrated to us, Yaḥyá ibn ʿUmayr narrated to us from Hishām with it, and al-Bazzār said something similar. Then he said: "We do not know anyone who narrated it from Hishām except Yaḥyá." I said: Abū Ḥātim said: His ḥadīth is sound. Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (7/601) and al-Dhahabī said: "Truthful." And this is the relied upon opinion, so the statement of al-Ḥāfiẓ: "Accepted," is not accepted. Four trustworthy narrators have narrated from him. And the rest of the men are trustworthy, so the isnād is good, and the ḥadīth is authentic with it.

- "Is it not possible that one of you might strike his wife as he strikes a slave? The best of you are those who are best to their families." It was recorded by al-Bazzār in "his Musnad" (no. 1484 - Kashf al-Astār) who said: Zakariyyā ibn Yaḥyá al-Ḍarīr narrated to us, Shabābah ibn Sawwār narrated to us, al-Mughīrah ibn Muslim narrated to us from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah from his father from al-Zubayr who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. And al-Bazzār said: "We do not know anyone who said in it: 'from al-Zubayr' except al-Mughīrah, and we did not hear it except from Zakariyyā from Shabābah from al-Mughīrah." And al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (4/303): "It was narrated by al-Bazzār from his shaykh Zakariyyā ibn Yaḥyá ibn Ayyūb al-Ḍarīr, and I did not know him, and the rest of its men are the men of (al-Ṣaḥīḥ)."
