1 - as for the ḥadīth of Muʿāwiyah ibn Ḥaydah, it is narrated by Abū Ḥabīb al-Ghanawī from Bahz ibn Ḥakīm from his father from his grandfather, in a marfūʿ form. It was recorded by al-Khulāʿī in "al-Fawāʾid" (folio 106/1) and by Ibn ʿAsākir in "al-Tārīkh" (3/297/1), both through the route of Abū Yaʿlá from Abū Ḥabīb al-Ghanawī. I said: This isnād is ḥasan, except that I did not find anyone who mentioned Abū Ḥabīb, and to this al-Haythamī alluded by saying (5/288): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī, and in it is Abū Ḥabīb al-ʿAnqazī, and it is said: (al-Qanawī), and I did not know him." And something similar is in "al-Targhīb" (2/154 and 3/64). Al-Mizzī mentioned him among the narrators from Bahz, and it appeared as (al-Qanawī) and in the two aforementioned sources for the ḥadīth: (al-Ghanawī), and this is a severe discrepancy in this attribution, and the correct version is not clear to me, as I explained in the commentary on the ḥadīth in "Ṣaḥīḥ al-Targhīb wa-al-Tarhīb" (number 1217). 2 - as for the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAbbās, it came from two routes: the first: from Shuʿayb ibn Ruzayq Abū Shaybah: ʿAṭāʾ al-Khurāsānī narrated to us from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Abī Rabāḥ from him with the wording: "Two eyes that the fire will not touch..." the ḥadīth without the third sentence. It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (1639), al-Bayhaqī (1/488/796), and al-Mizzī in "al-Tahdhīb" (12/525) and al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥasan gharīb ḥadīth, we do not know it except from the ḥadīth of Shuʿayb." I said: He is truthful but makes mistakes, as the ḥāfiẓ said, and the defect is (ʿAṭāʾ al-Khurāsānī) for he makes many mistakes
