its chain of transmission is authentic. It is also narrated with an authentic chain from Dāwūd who said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Salām said to me: If you hear that the Dajjāl has appeared while you are planting a sapling, do not hasten to abandon it, for people will have life after that. This Dāwūd is the son of Abū Dāwūd al-Anṣārī, about whom the ḥāfiẓ said: "Acceptable." Ibn Jarīr narrated from ʿUmārah ibn Khuzaymah ibn Thābit who said: I heard ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb say to my father: What prevents you from planting your land? My father said to him: I am an old man who may die tomorrow. ʿUmar said to him: I insist that you plant it. I saw ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb planting it with his own hand alongside my father. This is mentioned in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr" by al-Suyūṭī (3/337/2). Therefore, some Companions considered a man working on improving his land as one of the workers of Allāh. Al-Bukhārī narrated in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (no. 448) from Nāfiʿ ibn ʿĀṣim that he heard ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr say to a nephew of his who came out of (al-Wahṭ): Are your workers working? He said: I do not know. He said: If you were a Thaqafī, you would know what your workers are doing. Then he turned to us and said: When a man works with his workers in his house (and the narrator said once: in his wealth), he is one of the workers of Allāh. Its chain of transmission is good, if Allāh wills. And (al-Wahṭ) in the language is the orchard, and it is a vast land that belonged to ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ in al-Ṭāʾif, three miles from (Waj), which he seems to have left for his children
