On the authority of Anas (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu), from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), who said: "If the Hour is established while one of you has a sapling in his hand, and he is able to plant it before it is established, then let him plant it." (On the authority of Anas) Narrated by Imām Aḥmad (3/183, 184, 191) as well as al-Ṭayālisī (no. 2068) and al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (no. 479) and Ibn al-Aʿrābī in "Muʿjam" (p. 21/1) from Hishām ibn Zayd from him. This is a ṣaḥīḥ isnād according to the conditions of Muslim, and it was also followed by Yaḥyá ibn Saʿīd from Anas. It was extracted by Ibn ʿAdī in "al-Kāmil" (316/1). Al-Haythamī mentioned it in "al-Majmaʿ" (63/4) in a summarized form and said: "Narrated by al-Bazzār and its men are trustworthy and reliable." He missed that it is in "Musnad Aḥmad" in a more complete form as we mentioned. (The sapling) is the small palm tree, which is (al-wadiyyah). There is no clearer encouragement for investment than these noble ḥadīths, especially the last one, as it contains a great incentive to seize the last opportunity in life to plant what people can benefit from after his death, so its reward continues for him and his charity is recorded until the Day of Judgment. Imām al-Bukhārī titled this ḥadīth by saying "Chapter on Earning Wealth" and then narrated from al-Ḥārith ibn Laqīṭ who said: A man among us would have his horse give birth, and he would slaughter it, saying: Will I live until I ride this? Then a letter from ʿUmar came to us: Improve what Allāh has provided you, for there is relief in the matter
