Abū ʿAmr narrated to us from Yaḥyá ibn Abī Kathīr from Abū Salamah from Abū Hurayrah in a marfūʿ form. He mentioned it in the biography of this Naṣr, and said: "No one follows him on it, and it is not known except through him." al-Dhahabī said in "al-Mīzān": "A traveling narrator, Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in (al-Thiqāt)." al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Weak in ḥadīth." (Note): (Raḥḥāl) with an "r," and in the two printed editions of "al-Mīzān" it appeared as (Dajjāl) with a "d." This is a gross error, and the correction is from the al-Ẓāhiriyyah manuscript. As for the ḥadīth of Abū Dharr that Ibn Mandah referred to, there are several chains from him: the first is from ʿUbayd ibn al-Khashkhāsh from him, he said: I came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) while he was in the mosque ... the ḥadīth in its entirety, and in it is the ḥadīth of the biography, and it mentions that the questioning man is Abū Dharr himself. It was extracted by al-Ṭayālisī in "Musnad" (478): al-Masʿūdī narrated to us from Abū ʿAmr al-Shāmī from ʿUbayd ibn al-Khashkhāsh. From this chain, it was extracted by Aḥmad (5/178 and 179) and Ibn Saʿd in "al-Ṭabaqāt" (1/1/10 and 26) from other chains from al-Masʿūdī. al-Haythamī said (1/160): "It was narrated by Aḥmad, al-Bazzār, and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ," and in it is al-Masʿūdī who is trustworthy, but he mixed up." I said: ʿUbayd ibn al-Khashkhāsh was weakened by al-Dāraquṭnī, while Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (3/170) and said:
