Abū Nuʿaym also included it in "al-Ḥilyah" (2/280 and 6/274) through another chain from al-Firyābī and others from Bishr with it. Abū Yaʿlá included it in "his Musnad" (4/1437): Bishr ibn Sayḥān narrated it with the addition: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) visited Bilāl, who brought him a basket of dates. He said: 'What is this, O Bilāl?' He replied: 'Dates I have stored, O Messenger of Allāh!' He said: 'Did you not fear that it would emit a steam in Hell? Spend...' etc." I say: This isnād is good, all its narrators are trustworthy and well-known from the men of "al-Tahdhīb" except for Bishr ibn Sayḥān, who is Abū ʿAlī al-Thaqafī al-Baṣrī. Abū Ḥātim wrote about him and said: "There is nothing wrong with him, he was among the devout." Likewise, Abū Zurʿah narrated from him, and when asked about him, he said: "A righteous Basran shaykh," as in "al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl" (1/1/358). This was missed by the ḥāfiẓ, as he did not mention him in his biography in "al-Lisān," but he said: "Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt": he might have narrated something strange." The second: from Bakkār ibn Muḥammad al-Sīrīnī, ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAwn narrated to us from Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn with it and it includes the story.
