"Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Qārī, who is the grandfather of Yaʿqūb ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Madīnī al-Iskandarānī, narrated from his father from ʿUmar and Abū Ṭalḥah. al-Zuhrī and his son ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated from him." He did not mention any criticism or endorsement about him, and he is according to the criteria of Ibn Ḥibbān, so refer to his book "al-Thiqāt" (7/374). Yaʿqūb was uncertain whether he was the one narrating from ʿĀʾishah, or ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿAbd Allāh, and this ʿUbayd Allāh I did not know. Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Qārī is of unknown status as it appears from what I transmitted from Ibn Abī Ḥātim. If this is authentic from ʿĀʾishah, it is a different story from the one previously mentioned. And Allāh knows best. A similar account is what Ibn Saʿd also recorded, he said: Saʿīd ibn Manṣūr informed us, Yaʿqūb ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān informed us from Abū Ḥāzim from Sahl ibn Saʿd who said: "There were seven dinars with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) which he placed with ʿĀʾishah. When he was in his illness, he said: O ʿĀʾishah, send the gold to ʿAlī. Then the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) fainted, and ʿĀʾishah was preoccupied with his condition, until he said that three times, each time the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) fainted, and ʿĀʾishah was preoccupied with his condition, so she sent it—meaning the gold—to ʿAlī who gave it in charity. Then the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) spent the night of Monday in the throes of death, so ʿĀʾishah sent to a woman among the women with her lamp, saying: Drip some of your oil into our lamp, for the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) is in the throes of death." I said: This isnād is authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs, and al-Mundhirī (2/42), then al-Haythamī (3/124) said: "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" and its narrators are trustworthy and relied upon in (al-Ṣaḥīḥ)." (throes of death) This is how it appeared in "al-Ṭabaqāt," "al-Majmaʿ," and "al-Targhīb" as well
