and Yūnus ibn Rāshid is truthful; no one has spoken against him with any significant criticism. ʿAwn ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥanafiyyah was mentioned by Ibn Abī Ḥātim (3/386) with the narration of two others, and he did not mention any criticism or commendation about him. Thus, he is according to the criteria of Ibn Ḥibbān in "Thiqāt" [Trustworthy Ones], so refer to it. Then I found him in it (7/279), and al-Mundhirī deemed his isnād good, saying in "al-Targhīb" (3/115): "al-Ṭabarānī narrated it with a good isnād." Al-Haythamī said (5/96): "al-Ṭabarānī narrated it in 'al-Kabīr' and 'al-Awsaṭ', and in it is ʿAwn ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥanafiyyah, mentioned by Ibn Abī Ḥātim, and a group narrated from him, and no one criticized him, and the rest of the men are trustworthy." He missed Ibn Ḥibbān's authentication of him. The ḥadīth has supporting evidence from the ḥadīths of Ibn ʿAbbās and Abū Hurayrah, found in "al-Targhīb" (3/115), "al-Mishkāt" (4472), and "al-Rawḍ al-Naḍīr" (407).

- "Indeed, among my community are those who, if one of you were to ask them for a dinar, they would not give it [and if he asked for a dirham, they would not give it, and if he asked for a fil, they would not give it], but if he were to ask Allāh for Paradise, He would grant it to him. He is a person with worn-out clothes, not given attention, but if he swore by Allāh, He would fulfill it." It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (2/177/2/7699 - my numbering): narrated to us by Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm al-ʿAssāl: informed us by Sahl ibn ʿUthmān: narrated to us by Abū Muʿāwiyah from al-Aʿmash from Sālim ibn Abī al-Jaʿd from Thawbān, raised [to the Prophet]
