- "Whoever forgets to mention Allāh at the beginning of his meal should say when he remembers: 'In the name of Allāh at its beginning and end,' for it will be as if he is starting a new meal, and it will prevent the evil from affecting it." Narrated by Ibn Ḥibbān in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" (1340 - Mawārid) and Ibn al-Sunnī in "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (453) and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (3/74/1) from Khalīfah ibn Khayyāṭ who said: ʿUmar ibn ʿAlī al-Maqdamī told us, saying: I heard Mūsá al-Juhanī say: al-Qāsim ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd informed me from his father from his grandfather who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. I say: This is a sound chain of transmission, all its narrators are trustworthy, and Mūsá al-Juhanī is Ibn ʿAbd Allāh, and it is said: Ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān Abū Salamah and it is said Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Kūfī. And al-Haythamī said (5/235): "Narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in al-Awsaṭ and al-Kabīr and its narrators are trustworthy." I say, and Abū Salamah al-Juhanī has another ḥadīth with this chain, except that he came with a kunyah without a name, so his condition was hidden from the ḥadīth scholars and they were unaware of him, and al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Dhahabī and others stated this, so I was deceived by this for a period of time, and I refrained from authenticating the mentioned ḥadīth, until I came across this ḥadīth about food and that it is from the narration of Mūsá al-Juhanī, which opened a way for me
