and Ibn Abī Shaybah in "his Musnad" (2/38/2) from Zāʾidah, from al-Rukayn ibn al-Rabīʿ, from his father, from his uncle—who is Yasīr ibn ʿUmaylah—from Khuraym ibn Fātik al-Asadī that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it, and the context is for Aḥmad. I said: This isnād is authentic, and al-Rabīʿ, the father of al-Rukayn, was deemed trustworthy by Ibn Maʿīn and others, and he is mentioned in "al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl." al-Masʿūdī disagreed with them and said: from al-Rukayn ibn al-Rabīʿ from a man from Khuraym... narrated by Aḥmad (4/321). al-Masʿūdī is weak due to his confusion. And Maslamah ibn Jaʿfar—from Bajīlah—and he remained silent about him, and al-Dhahabī said: "I said: and Maslamah, I exerted effort on him, but I did not recognize him." I said: Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned him (4/1/267) from his narration from al-Rukayn ibn al-Rabīʿ and others. A group narrated from him, and no criticism or commendation was mentioned about him. al-Bukhārī did the same. And he said in "al-Lisān" (6/33): "He is unknown, and al-Azdī said: weak." Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (9/180). The last part of the ḥadīth was also narrated by al-Ḥākim from the first source, and he said: "Authentic isnād." al-Dhahabī agreed with him. It was also narrated by al-Tirmidhī and al-Nasāʾī as in "al-Targhīb," so refer to my commentary on it (2/156).
وابن أبي شيبة في " مسنده " (٢ / ٣٨ / ٢) عن زائدة عن الركين بن الربيع عن أبيه عن عمه - وهو يسير بن عميلة - عن خريم بن فاتك الأسدي أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: فذكره، والسياق لأحمد. قلت: وهذا إسناد صحيح، والربيع والد الركين، وثقه ابن معين وغيره وهو مترجم في " الجرح والتعديل ". وخالفهما المسعودي فقال: عن الركين بن الربيع عن رجل عن خريم ... أخرجه أحمد (٤ / ٣٢١) . والمسعودي ضعيف لاختلاطه. ومسلمة بن جعفر - من بجيلة - وسكت عنه، وقال الذهبي: " قلت: ومسلمة تعبت عليه، فلم أعرفه ". قلت: ترجمه ابن أبي حاتم (٤ / ١ / ٢٦٧) من روايته عن الركين بن الربيع وغيره. وعنه جمع، ولم يذكر فيه جرحا ولا تعديلا. وكذلك صنع البخاري. وقال في " اللسان " (٦ / ٣٣) : " يجهل، وقال الأزدي: ضعيف ". وذكره ابن حبان في " الثقات " (٩ / ١٨٠) . والجملة الأخيرة من الحديث أخرجها الحاكم أيضا من الوجه الأول، وقال: " صحيح الإسناد ". ووافقه الذهبي. وأخرجها الترمذي أيضا والنسائي كما في " الترغيب "، فراجع تعليقي عليه (٢ / ١٥٦) .
