"we were with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) during a journey...". It was recorded by al-Shāfiʿī in "al-Sunan" (1/269). Among them is Abū al-Mughīrah, whose name is ʿAbd al-Quddūs ibn al-Ḥajjāj al-Ḥimṣī. It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/194) from him. Thus, these three trustworthy narrators did not mention the phrase "month of Ramaḍān," so their narration is given precedence over the other narration of al-Walīd, as is evident and not hidden. This is further supported by the following matter, which is: second, that ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Yazīd ibn Jābir corroborated Saʿīd in narrating the ḥadīth from Ismāʿīl ibn ʿUbayd Allāh in its entirety, but he differed with him on this phrase, saying: "we set out with the Messenger of Allāh on one of our journeys...". It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (3/147), and this ʿAbd al-Raḥmān is more reliable than Saʿīd, so his narration is preferred in case of disagreement, especially if Saʿīd himself agreed with him in most of the narrations from him as previously mentioned. Third, Hishām ibn Saʿd also corroborated him, but he did not mention the phrase in question. It was recorded by Aḥmad (6/444) from Ḥammād ibn Khālid who said: Ḥishām ibn Saʿd narrated to us from ʿUthmān ibn Ḥayyān and Ismāʿīl ibn ʿUbayd Allāh from Umm al-Dardāʾ from Abū al-Dardāʾ with it. Hishām ibn Saʿd is a trustworthy narrator with good ḥadīth, and Muslim used him as evidence, as will be mentioned. Fourth, the ḥadīth came through another route from Umm al-Dardāʾ in which the mentioned phrase did not appear. It was recorded by Muslim (3/145), Ibn Mājah (1/510), al-Bayhaqī (4/245), and Aḥmad (5/194) through routes from Hishām ibn Saʿd from ʿUthmān ibn Ḥayyān al-Dimashqī from Umm al-Dardāʾ with it in the wording:
" كنا مع رسول الله ﷺ في السفر ... ". أخرجه الشافعي في " السنن " (١ / ٢٦٩). ومنهم أبو المغيرة واسمه عبد القدوس بن الحجاج الحمصي. أخرجه أحمد (٥ / ١٩٤) عنه. فهؤلاء ثلاثة من الثقات لم يذكروا ذلك الحرف " شهر رمضان "، فروايتهم مقدمة على رواية الوليد الأخرى كما هو ظاهر لا يخفى، ويؤيده الأمر التالي، وهو: الثاني: أن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد بن جابر قد تابع سعيدا على رواية الحديث عن إسماعيل بن عبيد الله بتمامه، ولكنه خالفه في هذا الحرف فقال: " خرجنا مع رسول الله في بعض أسفارنا ... " أخرجه البخاري (٣ / ١٤٧)، وعبد الرحمن هذا أثبت من سعيد، فروايته عند المخالفة أرجح، لاسيما إذا وافقه عليها سعيد نفسه في أكثر الروايات عنه كما تقدم. الثالث: أن هشام بن سعد قد تابعه أيضا ولكنه لم يذكر فيه الحرف المشار إليه. أخرجه أحمد (٦ / ٤٤٤) عن حماد بن خالد قال: حدثنا هشام بن سعد عن عثمان بن حيان وإسماعيل بن عبيد الله عن أم الدرداء عن أبي الدرداء به. وهشام بن سعد ثقة حسن الحديث، وقد احتج به مسلم كما يأتي. الرابع: أن الحديث جاء من طريق أخرى عن أم الدرداء لم يرد فيه الحرف المذكور. أخرجه مسلم (٣ / ١٤٥) وابن ماجه (١ / ٥١٠) والبيهقي (٤ / ٢٤٥) وأحمد (٥ / ١٩٤) من طرق عن هشام بن سعد عن عثمان بن حيان الدمشقي عن أم الدرداء به بلفظ:
