the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) saw a man praying while the caller to prayer was giving the iqāmah, and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to him: ... and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād is good; its men are trustworthy and well-known, except for ʿAbd al-Ghaffār ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr, the shaykh of Abū Yaʿlá. Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned him (3/1/54) and said: "He narrated from ʿAlī ibn Mus-hir and ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAṭāʾ al-Ṭāʾī. Ibrāhīm ibn Yūsuf al-Hisanajānī narrated from him." He did not mention any criticism or praise about him, and Ibn Ḥibbān included him in "al-Thiqāt" (8/421) and said: "He is from the people of Mosul, his kunyah is Abū Naṣr... al-Ḥasan ibn Idrīs narrated to us from him." I said: Others also narrated from him, and Ibn Ḥibbān included eight ḥadīths from him in "Ṣaḥīḥ" all narrated by Abū Yaʿlá, and one of them is coupled with (al-Ḥasan ibn Idrīs). Supporting and strengthening the ḥadīth is the ḥadīth of Ibn Buḥaynah who said: The prayer of Fajr was established, and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) saw a man praying while the caller to prayer was giving the iqāmah, and he said: "Are you praying Fajr as four [rakʿahs]?!" It was recorded by Muslim (2/154) and in his narration from him, he said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) passed by a man praying while the prayer of Fajr was established, and he spoke to him about something we did not know. When we finished, we surrounded him and asked: What did the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say to you? He said: "It is likely that one of you will pray Fajr as four [rakʿahs]?!" It was also narrated by Abū ʿAwānah (2/37-38), Ibn Mājah (no. 1153), and al-Bayhaqī (2/481). Al-Bukhārī (663) narrated it similarly to the first narration
