and in this is a clarification that the intended meaning of the seven aḥruf is seven dialects in one ḥarf and one word with different expressions but the same meanings, as explained and clarified comprehensively by Imām al-Ṭabarī in the introduction to his tafsīr. He also clarified that the ummah adhered to one ḥarf to the exclusion of the remaining six aḥruf, and that there is no abrogation or loss, and that the recitation today is according to the muṣḥaf upon which ʿUthmān (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) gathered the people, in a strong and solid discourse, so review it, for it is very beneficial.

"Go out, and when you reach your land, break your church and sprinkle its place with this water and make it a mosque." They said: "The land is distant, the heat is intense, and the water evaporates?" He said: "Extend it with water, for it only increases in purity." It was narrated by al-Nasāʾī (8/1 mosques - chapter 11) and Ibn Ḥibbān (98/304 - Mawārid) through the route of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Badr from Qays ibn Ṭalq from his father Ṭalq ibn ʿAlī who said: "We went as a delegation to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), pledged allegiance to him, prayed with him, and informed him that in our land there was a church of ours. We requested from him some of his remaining purification water, so he called for water, performed ablution, rinsed his mouth, then poured it into a water skin and instructed us, saying: so he mentioned it. We went out until we reached our land, broke our church, then sprinkled its place and made it a mosque, and we called the adhān in it. He said: The monk was a man from Ṭayyʾ, and when he heard the adhān, he said: 'A call of truth,' then he faced a hill from our hills and we did not see him again." I said: Its isnād is authentic, and from this route, it was also narrated by Aḥmad (4/23) and al-Ḥarbī in "Gharīb al-Ḥadīth" (5/141/2 and 156/2) from the mentioned route in a summarized form.
