Did you teach me such and such verse? He said: Yes, and the other said: Did you not teach me such and such verse? He said: "Yes, indeed Gabriel and Michael (ʿalayhimā al-salām) came to me, Gabriel sat on my right, and Michael on my left, and Gabriel (ʿalayhi al-salām) said: Recite the Quran on one letter, and Michael said: Ask for more, ask for more, until it reached seven letters, and each letter is sufficient and complete." Its citation has previously been mentioned under number (843), and it was also narrated by Imām Ibn Jarīr al-Ṭabarī in the introduction of his "Tafsīr" (numbers 26 and 27) through other routes from Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl with it. And it was narrated by him and Aḥmad from the route of Ḥammād ibn Salamah from Ḥumayd with it, except that he inserted between Anas and Abū ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit! And I think that this is among the errors of Ibn Salamah due to his contradiction of the reliable narrations previously mentioned from Ḥumayd. And it has a corroboration from the narration of ʿAlī ibn Zayd from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Bakrah from his father similar to it, and he added: "as long as he does not conclude a verse of punishment with mercy, or a verse of mercy with punishment, like your saying: (Come) and (Approach)." It was extracted by Ibn Jarīr (40) and al-Ṭaḥāwī in "al-Mushkil" (4/191) and Aḥmad (5/51) and ʿAlī ibn Zayd - who is Ibn Judʿān - is weak in terms of his memory, but this addition is authentic because it has a corroboration from another route from Abū Bakrah, previously mentioned and cited in the place referred to earlier
