"Shall I not inform you of something better or more than your remembrance of Allāh during the night and the day? You say: Glory be to Allāh as many times as the number of His creation, Glory be to Allāh as much as the fullness of what He created, Glory be to Allāh as many times as there are in the earth and the sky, Glory be to Allāh as much as the fullness of the sky and the earth, Glory be to Allāh as much as the fullness of what He created, Glory be to Allāh as many times as His Book has enumerated, and Glory be to Allāh as much as the fullness of everything, and you say: All praise is due to Allāh, in the same manner." This ḥadīth is narrated by Abū Umāmah al-Bāhilī: Ṣudī ibn ʿAjlān, attributed to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and it has multiple chains from him. The first: from Ibn ʿAjlān from Muṣʿab ibn Muḥammad ibn Sharḥabīl from Muḥammad ibn Saʿd ibn Zurārah from him that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) passed by him while he was moving his lips and said: "What are you saying, O Abū Umāmah?" He said: I am remembering my Lord. He said: ... and mentioned it. It was recorded by al-Nasāʾī in "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (no. 166), Ibn Ḥibbān in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (2331 - Mawārid al-Ẓamʾān), al-Rūyānī in "Musnad" (30/221/1), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (8122) but there is confusion in its isnād! I say: And this isnād is ḥasan, its narrators are trustworthy, with the known disagreement regarding Muḥammad ibn ʿAjlān. The second: from Sālim ibn Abī al-Jaʿd who said: Abū Umāmah narrated to me something similar. It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (1/513) and through his route by al-Bayhaqī in "al-Daʿawāt" (no. 132) and Aḥmad (5/249) and al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs."
