al-Ḥākim also reported it, as did al-Nasāʾī in "al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (211 and 1033), and from him Ibn al-Sunnī (202), and Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (8/57/3646), and from him Abū Yaʿlá (13/152/7195), through the route of ʿAmmār ibn Razīq from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿĪsá. however, the ḥadīth is authentic, for I found another route for it. It was reported by Ibn Qāniʿ in the biography of Sahl ibn Ḥunayf in his book "Muʿjam al-Ṣaḥābah", and also by Ibn al-Sunnī (201), both through the route of Yaḥyá ibn ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd al-Ḥammānī: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Sulaymān ibn al-Ghasīl narrated to us, Maslamah ibn Khālid al-Anṣārī narrated to us from Abū Umāmah ibn Sahl ibn Ḥunayf from his father, raised [to the Prophet] with the wording: "What prevents one of you when he sees..." the ḥadīth. and Maslamah is unknown as al-Dhahabī said in "al-Mīzān", and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of Muslim, with weakness in al-Ḥammānī. It was also reported by Imām Mālik (3/118-119), and from him Ibn Ḥibbān in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (1424 - Mawārid) from Muḥammad ibn Abī Umāmah ibn Sahl ibn Ḥunayf that he heard his father say: My father Sahl ibn Ḥunayf bathed at (al-Kharrār), so he removed a cloak that was on him, and ʿĀmir ibn Rabīʿah was looking, and Sahl was a man with fair skin and good complexion. He said: ʿĀmir ibn Rabīʿah said to him: I have not seen today anything like this, nor skin like that of a virgin! He said: Sahl then fell ill on the spot, and his illness intensified, so the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was informed that Sahl had fallen ill and that he would not be accompanying you, O Messenger of Allāh. So the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came to him and informed Sahl of what had happened with ʿĀmir. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "Why would one of you kill his brother! Why did you not bless him? The evil eye is real, perform ablution for him," so ʿĀmir performed ablution for him, and Sahl went with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) without any distress. And this chain of narration is authentic
