"the striving of the diligent concealed one." It was recorded by Abū Yaʿlá in his "Musnad" (1486). I said: and Zabān is weak in this. And another witness from the ḥadīth of ʿAmr ibn ʿAbasah, raised [to the Prophet] similarly, without the addition. Al-Mundhirī said (2/62): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Kabīr' and 'al-Awsaṭ' with an isnād that is acceptable." Al-Haythamī said (3/194): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Kabīr' and 'al-Awsaṭ', and its men are trustworthy." I say: but it was narrated by al-Bukhārī in "al-Tārīkh" (1/2/234) and Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim (Q 89/1) through the route of Junādah ibn Abī Khālid from Abū Shaybah from ʿAmr ibn ʿAbasah with the wording: "seventy autumns." And this Abū Shaybah - who is al-Mahri - was mentioned by Ibn Abī Ḥātim (4/2/390) with a narration from Balīḥ also from him, and he did not mention any criticism or endorsement of him, and Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt." And Junādah was also mentioned by Ibn Abī Ḥātim (1/1/515) with a narration from Zayd ibn Abī Anīsah, who is the one narrating this ḥadīth from him, and in his biography, al-Bukhārī mentioned him, without any criticism or endorsement, and he is in "Thiqāt Ibn Ḥibbān" (6/150) and al-Dhahabī explicitly stated in "al-Mīzān" (1/424) that he is unknown.
