and Sufyān followed him from al-Aʿmash with a similar narration. It was recorded by Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (8/59).

- "The best women who rode camels are the righteous women of Quraysh; they are most caring for a child in its youth and most considerate of a husband with what is in hand." It was recorded by Aḥmad (1/318-319) through the route of ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd: Shaher narrated to us, Ibn ʿAbbās narrated to me: that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) proposed to a woman from a people called Sawdah, and she was a widow with five or six children from a husband who had died. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to her: What prevents you from me? She said: By Allāh, O Prophet of Allāh, nothing prevents me from you except that you are not the most beloved of creation to me, but I honor you too much to have these children cry at your head morning and evening. He said: Is there anything else preventing you from me? She said: No, by Allāh. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to her: "May Allāh have mercy on you, indeed the best..." the ḥadīth. The ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Fatḥ" (9/422): "Its isnād is good, and it has another route recorded by Qāsim ibn Thābit in "al-Dalāʾil" through the route of al-Ḥakam ibn Abān from ʿIkrimah from Ibn ʿAbbās with a shortened version of the story." I said: al-Ḥakam ibn Abān is truthful but has errors, and Shaher in the first route is Ibn Ḥawshab, truthful but frequently sends and makes errors as the ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb," so perhaps the ḥāfiẓ's grading of the ḥadīth through his route is actually grading it through another.
