therefore, Ibn al-Qayyim sought to strengthen it through its various chains in "al-Hady al-Nabawī," and he was followed by al-Shawkānī in "Nayl al-Awṭār" (5/106-107, Halabi edition). As for the ḥadīth: "The sacrifices until the crescent of Muḥarram for whoever wishes to delay that," it is mursal and not authentic. I have discussed it in "al-Ḍaʿīfah" (4106).

- "The shepherd throws at night and grazes during the day." It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī (5/151) from Ibn Wahb: ʿUmar ibn Qays informed me from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Abī Rabāḥ who said: I heard Ibn ʿAbbās say: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād is very weak. ʿUmar ibn Qays, who is the Makki known as (Sandl), is abandoned as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb." However, Ibn Wahb has another isnād that is better and stronger than this. He said: Yaḥyá ibn Ayyūb informed me from ʿUmārah ibn Ghaziyyah from Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm from Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) similarly. It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī. I said: This isnād is mursal and authentic. All its men are trustworthy, the men of Muslim. It is supported by what was narrated by Muslim ibn Khālid from ʿUbayd Allāh from Nāfiʿ from Ibn ʿUmar that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) permitted the shepherds to throw at night. It was recorded by al-Bazzār (1139) and also by al-Bayhaqī. I said: And its isnād, all of them are trustworthy, the men of Muslim except for Muslim ibn Khālid - who is the Makki known as (al-Zanjī) - and he is truthful but makes many errors, as the ḥāfiẓ said, and he is a well-known jurist
