beware of deviation in the sanctuary of Allāh, for I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say (and he mentioned it). He said: "So see that it is not you, O Ibn ʿAmr! For you have read the scriptures and accompanied the Messenger (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and I bear witness that this is my direction to Syria as a warrior." I said: And this is a sound isnād according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs, and Hāshim is Ibn al-Qāsim Abū al-Naḍr, and he has been corroborated. Imām Aḥmad said (2/136): "Muḥammad ibn Kināsah narrated to us, Isḥāq ibn Saʿīd narrated to us from his father who said: 'ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar came to ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr and said: ...' and he mentioned something similar without saying: 'For you have read the scriptures...'" Thus he said "Ibn ʿUmar," and in "his Musnad," Imām Aḥmad mentioned it, and it may be among the errors of Ibn Kināsah, for despite his reliability, Abū Ḥātim said about him: "His ḥadīth is written but not used as evidence." Al-Haythamī said (3:285) regarding the first path: "It was narrated by Aḥmad and its men are the men of the authentic collections." And he said about the other: "It was narrated by Aḥmad and its men are trustworthy." And he mentioned it from the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAmr also with the wording: "A man will deviate in Mecca, he is called ʿAbd Allāh, upon him is half the punishment of the world." And he said: "It was narrated by al-Bazzār, and in it is Muḥammad ibn Kathīr al-Ṣanʿānī, who was deemed trustworthy by Ṣāliḥ ibn Muḥammad, Ibn Saʿd, and Ibn Ḥibbān, but weakened by Aḥmad." And al-Ḥāfiẓ said about this al-Ṣanʿānī:
