of the boy and placed it on his head. The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "Replace the blood with perfume." It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (1057). I say: Its isnād is authentic. It was also recorded by Abū Dāwūd and others from the ḥadīth of Buraydah with a similar wording. Its isnād is also authentic. (Note): The addition within the brackets is found in al-Ṭabarānī and Ibn Mandah, and its affirmation is correct as in "al-Tahdhīb."

- "Satan approaches one of you, frightening him, then he goes and informs the people!" It was recorded by al-Nasāʾī in "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (913), Ibn Mājah (2/451), and Aḥmad (2/344) from Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr from ʿUmar ibn Saʿīd ibn Abī Ḥusayn: ʿAṭāʾ ibn Abī Rabāḥ narrated to me from Abū Hurayrah who said: "A man came and said: I saw my head being struck, and I saw it rolling, so the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said..." and he mentioned it. I say: This is an authentic ḥadīth, its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the two Shaykhs. It has a supporting narration from the ḥadīth of Jābir with a similar wording. It was recorded by Muslim (7/55), al-Nasāʾī (912), and al-Ḥākim (4/302), who made an error. Al-Nasāʾī titled the ḥadīth with: "The prohibition of informing people about Satan's play with him in his sleep."
