- "Some people from among those who affirm tawḥīd will be punished in the Fire until they become like charcoal. Then mercy will reach them, and they will be brought out and placed at the gates of Paradise. He said: The people of Paradise will sprinkle water on them, and they will grow like the scum that grows in the flood's carrier, then they will enter Paradise." It was narrated by Aḥmad (3/391) and al-Tirmidhī (2600) from Abū Muʿāwiyah, from al-Aʿmash, from Abū Sufyān, from Jābir who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said it, and al-Tirmidhī said: "A good and authentic ḥadīth." I say: It meets the criteria of Muslim. The ḥadīth has a corroborating narration from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, which is more complete. It was narrated by Muslim and others as mentioned previously under number (1551).

- "A sacrifice is made for the boy, but his head is not touched with blood." It was narrated by Ibn Mājah (2/281) and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (1/33/2) and Ibn Mandah in "al-Maʿrifah" (2/35/1) from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb who said: ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith narrated to me from Ayyūb ibn Mūsá who narrated to him that Yazīd ibn ʿAbd al-Muzanī narrated to him: [from his father] that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said it, and he mentioned it. Al-Ṭabarānī said: "No one narrated it from Ayyūb except ʿAmr, and it was uniquely narrated by Ibn Wahb." I say: All three are trustworthy, but Yazīd ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Muzanī is unknown; no one narrated from him except Ayyūb, yet Ibn Ḥibbān considered him trustworthy (5/543)! However, the ḥadīth has a corroborating narration from ʿĀʾishah who said: "In the pre-Islamic period, when they performed the ʿaqīqah for a boy, they would dye a cotton ball with the blood of the ʿaqīqah, and when they shaved the head..
